Same-week appointments
There are three of us, and you’ll know which one you’re seeing:
Pepper, a ginger tom from Andover, kept going back to his litter box with nothing to show for it, and his owner nearly waited until morning. A male cat who can’t pee can’t wait, so he sits in couplet 1 below. Answer each couplet the way you’d key out a plant, and it tells you to call now, book today or watch at home. It won’t replace a vet. If you’re unsure, call.

Open hours, call us and come straight in: we'll clear an exam room. After hours, our vet answers and phones Plainsview Animal ER ahead of you with the history.

It needs a vet within the day, not the ER. Call before noon and we'll fit you in today. After 4pm, call the after-hours line and we'll tell you whether it can wait for morning.

Keep water down, offer a small bland meal, and note what changes. Book a visit if it isn't better in two days, or call the moment any sign from couplet 1 or 2 appears.
One of us three picks up, usually from a kitchen table. If it can wait until morning, we’ll tell you so and spare you the drive.
Trouble breathing, collapse, seizures, a car accident, suspected poisoning, a swollen belly with retching, or a cat that can't pee.
Most calls end with advice or a first-thing appointment here. When a hospital is needed, it's Plainsview Animal ER in east Wichita, open 24 hours, about 25 minutes away. We call ahead with the history. Their line: (316) 555-0149.
Your pet on a short leash or in a carrier, the packaging of anything they ate, and a list of their medications. A towel for the car helps.
A woman from Derby once told me she’d phoned four clinics for a spay price and got four shrugs. So our prices sit here, and every treatment starts with a written estimate.
Nose to tail, once a year for most animals and twice for seniors. Weight, teeth, joints, heart, eyes and coat, with anything odd flagged early.

Estimate promise. You get a written estimate before any treatment. If the final bill comes in more than 10% over it, we cover the difference.
Every exam uses low-stress handling: treats, no scruffing, and a towel wrap instead of a crowd holding your pet down. Birds, reptiles and livestock go to colleagues who see them every day, and we’ll give you a name and number.
Some of this month’s regulars. Biscuit, seven, had her nose in my coat pocket before I said hello. Each one held still long enough for a proper look and left with a biscuit, which in Biscuit’s case confuses everybody.
Three vets, one exam room per visit. Ask for the same one of us next time and that’s who you’ll get.
Twelve years in general practice. I’m fairly sure half of medicine is a dog trusting you enough to hold still.
DVM, Kansas State University, 2013. Low-stress handling lead. Dogs and cats.
Spays, neuters and lump removals, in-house. Owen's rule: “No dog of mine sleeps off anesthesia alone.”
DVM, Kansas State University, 2016. Soft-tissue surgery focus. Dogs, cats and rabbits.
Priya runs our dental staging, and the slow exams an old cat needs, where nothing happens until the cat stops flattening her ears.
DVM, Oklahoma State University, 2018. Veterinary dentistry coursework. Small mammals.
A first visit is the $65 exam. With core vaccines, most first visits come to $110–$160, and you’ll hear the number before we start.
Saying goodbye is the hardest visit we do, and it should never be rushed or a surprise at the front desk. Call and ask for me or Dr. Nandakumar. We’ll talk it through first, with no appointment and no charge for the conversation.
We book these at the end of the day, in the quiet room with its own door to the side lot, so you never walk back through the waiting room. You can stay the whole time. Payment is settled beforehand, over the phone, so the day itself is only about your pet.
Surgery and dental days are marked. Saturday mornings are for wellness and vaccines.

This panel shows the practice's latest Google reviews once its profile is connected: the owner's words, the date, and a link to the full review. This is a concept for an invented clinic, so it has no reviews yet, and we won't write any.
The five that come up again and again.
The exam is $65. With the core vaccines most pets need, first visits usually come to $110–$160. We quote it on the phone when we confirm your time.
Call right away, day or night, with the packaging in your hand. Don’t make your pet vomit unless a vet tells you to. Chocolate, grapes, xylitol gum, antifreeze and rat bait are all worth the call.
Yes. Name the clinic when you book and we'll request them, usually within two days. If you have vaccine certificates at home, bring them too.
Every pet insurer reimburses you directly, and we fill in their claim forms the same day. For bills over $300 we offer a three-payment plan with no interest, arranged before treatment.
If we've examined your pet in the last 12 months, yes. Text (316) 555-0144 or use the form. Refills are ready in 24 hours, prescription diets in two days.
Tell us what’s going on and when suits you. We’ll ring to confirm a time within one business day.
Rather talk it through? Call (316) 555-0103 and a technician picks up during open hours.
We'll call you within one business day to confirm a time and quote the visit.
