These are our self-pay prices for 2026. Do you have insurance? Luis works out your share first. He sends it to you. Your bill matches it.

    Nitrous oxide wears off in five minutes. You can drive home. Oral sedation is a tablet you take an hour before, with Dr. Petrakis. Bring a driver. For IV sedation, we send you to an oral surgeon.

    You see daylight and trees. Does the light bother you? We lower the blinds.

Kids' first visit

Before age 3, the visit is free. Your child rides the chair up and down. Jenna counts teeth with them. They take home a new toothbrush. From age 3, it is a real checkup: $75 self-pay, or covered by most plans. Parents stay in the room.

There are two of us dentists. Jenna, our hygienist, has been here longer than some of our patients. Luis writes every estimate.

DDS, UMKC School of Dentistry, 2007. Kansas dental licence, 19 years in practice.

Opened Northbend in 2011. Does the same-day crowns, fillings and whitening, and reads every new patient's X-rays herself.

Dr. Owen Petrakis, DMD

Implants, children, sedation

DMD, University of Nebraska College of Dentistry, 2014. General practice residency. Kansas oral sedation permit.

Places the practice's implants, sees most of the children and handles oral sedation for nervous patients.

Jenna Kowalski, RDH

Lead hygienist

Registered dental hygienist, Wichita State University, 2012. Here since 2013.

Does most of the cleanings, the gum care and every kids' first visit. Keeps the quiet end of the day for anxious patients.

Luis Carrillo

Office and insurance manager

12 years in dental billing. Files every claim for you, at no charge.

Writes every estimate before your visit. If the bill is higher than his estimate, you pay the estimate.

When are you open, and where?

Patients come from Andover, Augusta, Rose Hill, El Dorado, Derby and east Wichita. We are two minutes off Kellogg.

Does a tooth hurt today?

A toothache, a broken tooth or a lost crown? Call by 11 am, Monday to Thursday. On Friday, call by 10 am. We see you that day. We keep two slots open every day for this. The visit is $85.

After hours, patients of the practice can call (316) 555-0119 and press 2. The dentist on call answers 5 pm to 9 pm on weekdays, and 8 am to noon at weekends. Is your face swollen, so it is hard to breathe or swallow? Is your jaw hurt? Go to the nearest hospital emergency room first.

We close on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the Friday after, and December 24 to 26. The on-call line still answers.

Parking and the door

The lot at the front door is free. Two accessible spaces sit by the ramp. Everything is on one floor. There are no stairs. Look for the green door facing Andover Road.

The drive

From east Wichita, take Kellogg to Andover Road. Turn north. It takes about 12 minutes. From Augusta, it is 15 minutes on US-54.

Do you take my insurance?

We are in network with Delta Dental of Kansas, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, Cigna, MetLife, Guardian, Aetna, United Concordia and Ameritas. Do you have another PPO plan? We still file the claim for you. Luis emails your share before the visit. The bill matches it.

What does a first visit cost without insurance?

It is $149. That covers the exam, a full set of X-rays and a cleaning. Do your gums need a deeper cleaning? We tell you the price first. You choose whether to do it that day. Our plan, at $29 a month, covers two of these visits a year.

Can you see me today? My tooth hurts.

Yes. Call by 11 am, Monday to Thursday. On Friday, call by 10 am. We hold two slots every day for pain. The emergency visit is $85. It includes an X-ray and pain relief. We price any treatment before we start.

I get very nervous at the dentist. What can you do?

Tell us when you book. We give you a longer slot at a quieter time. Every chair has headphones and a ceiling screen. Laughing gas is $45. Dr. Petrakis offers oral sedation for $150. Raise your left hand at any point, and we stop.

When should my child first come in?

Come by the first birthday, or when the first tooth shows. Visits before age 3 are free. They help your child get used to the chair. From 3, a checkup is $75 self-pay, or covered by most plans. A parent stays in the room.

Can I check up on you?
