The short answer

A small business website in Wichita costs from about $17 a month on a DIY builder to $5,000 to $15,000 from a local agency, the range Clutch's Wichita guide gives for a small brochure site. Some Wichita-area providers publish builds from about $500. Budget $10 to $19 a year for a domain and $50 to $500 a month if someone else hosts and maintains it. Ours is $499 to build plus $49 a month, or $1,449 once.

Agencies in Wichita commonly quote $5,000 to $15,000 for a small business site, and many ask you to book a call before they give any number. Clutch puts local hourly rates at $75 to $150. At the other end, a handful of providers in and around Wichita publish flat prices near $500, and national pay-monthly services bundle the build into a monthly fee, often with a 12-month minimum.

None of these tiers is wrong. They buy different things: how much of the site is designed from scratch, how many people work on it, and how much of the work after launch is included.

What pushes a quote up or down

  • Number of pages. A five-page site for a salon and a 40-page site for a clinic with a page per treatment are different jobs. Ask what the page limit is.
  • Custom design or a theme. A theme with your logo is faster and cheaper to set up; a design drawn for your business costs more to make unless the builder has tools that speed it up.
  • Anything that stores data. Online booking, an order queue, a menu editor, a quote form that feeds a spreadsheet. Each system adds build time and sometimes a monthly software fee.
  • Connections to tools you already pay for. Toast, Square, OpenTable, Vagaro and similar tools usually connect with an embed or a link, which is cheap. A custom two-way sync is not.
  • Selling online. A store with shipping, tax and inventory sits in its own price band, which Clutch puts at $15,000 to $80,000 from Wichita agencies.
  • Words and photos. If the designer writes your pages or books a photographer, the quote grows. If you supply them, it shrinks and the site goes up faster.
  • Who does the work after launch. A low build price with high hourly rates for every change can cost more by year two than a higher price that includes changes.

What a website costs every month after launch

The build is one bill. These are the ones that keep coming.

CostTypical rangeNotes
Domain nameAbout $10 to $19 a year for a .comTLDPrice's August 2026 comparison lists .com renewals at $10.46 at Cloudflare, $11.08 at Porkbun and $18.48 at Namecheap. Builders often give the first year free, then charge their own renewal price.
HostingIncluded in builder plans; otherwise a few dollars to hundreds a monthShared hosting is cheap. Managed hosting with backups and monitoring costs more, and is often bundled into a maintenance plan.
Maintenance and changes$50 to $250 a month nationally for a small business site; $150 to $500 from Wichita agenciesGravitate's January 2026 guide gives the national range; Clutch gives the Wichita one. Hourly work runs $75 to $150 in Wichita.
Plugins and themes$100 to $500 a year on WordPress sitesGravitate's estimate for plugin licenses. Custom-built and builder sites usually have none.

Fees to ask about before you sign

  • Setup fees on monthly plans. One national pay-monthly service charges $399 to set up its $79 plan. Add it to the first year's total.
  • Minimum terms and early exit. Some monthly plans run 12 months, and leaving early means paying the months that are left. Ask for the exit cost in writing.
  • Promotional first years. Wix's current discounts apply only to the first yearly term, and free domains last one year. Price year two, not year one.
  • Change requests. Ask how many edits a month are included and what the hourly rate is after that.
  • Transaction fees. Squarespace's Basic plan takes 2% of online store sales on top of card processing, as of September 2026. Its Core plan takes none.
  • Who holds the domain and the hosting account. If they are in the designer's name, leaving can cost you the address customers know. Our ownership guide shows how to check.
  • Hosting after the first year. Packages that include a year of hosting should say what year two costs.

Every option starts with a $200 commissioning fee that buys a working demo of your real site, credited to the total. More pages or a second system are quoted before you sign. Full detail is on the pricing page.

A DIY builder costs less in cash, and it is the right call if you have more time than budget and a simple site in mind; our Wix and Squarespace comparison does that math. Bigger projects are where the gap with agency pricing grows. A larger site, an online store or a full business system is quoted in writing before you sign. For scale, a complete business management system from us, with a public website with events and bookings, an online shop with gift cards, season passes and subscriptions, a point of sale with tabs and offline sales, a staff time clock, native iOS and Android staff apps, and a back office for orders, stock, purchasing, people, money and reports, comes to $15,000 or less. Clutch puts a larger custom website alone from a Wichita agency at $20,000 to $60,000.

Questions owners ask us

How much is a website per month?

A DIY builder is $17 to $49 a month. Hosting and care from someone else runs $50 to $250 a month nationally for a small business site, and $150 to $500 from Wichita agencies. Ours is $49 a month on a three-year contract, with hosting and up to 10 small changes included.

How much should I pay for a website for my small business?

Pay for what the site has to do. A custom site of up to 10 pages with bookings, a menu editor or an order queue is $499 from us, against the $5,000 to $15,000 Wichita agencies commonly quote. A store or a larger system is quoted in writing before you sign.

Why do Wichita agencies charge $5,000 or more for a small site?

Agency prices cover a team: a strategist, a designer, a developer and a project manager, often billed at $75 to $150 an hour, which is the Wichita range Clutch reports. Many also write the content and run several rounds of design. Smaller studios and freelancers that use their own tools can charge less for a site of the same size.

What is a fair price for a five-page website in Wichita?

It depends on who does the work after launch. Thumbtack's national average for a website developer job is $1,057, Wichita agencies commonly quote $5,000 to $15,000, and a DIY builder costs $17 to $49 a month. Ours is $499 to build plus $49 a month, or $1,449 once.

How much should I budget each month once the site is live?

Plan on about $10 to $19 a year for the domain, plus hosting and care. Nationally, small business maintenance runs $50 to $250 a month, according to Gravitate's January 2026 guide, and Clutch puts Wichita agencies at $150 to $500. Our care plan is $49 a month and includes hosting.

Is a pay-monthly website cheaper than paying up front?

Over one year, usually. Over three years, often not: national pay-monthly plans of $79 to $349 a month add up to $2,844 to $12,564 in 36 months. Check the minimum term and whether you own the site when you stop paying.

Do Wichita web designers charge by the hour?

Many do, for changes after launch if not for the build. Clutch's guide to Wichita web design companies puts local rates at $75 to $150 an hour. Ask for a fixed price on the build and a written list of what is included each month.

What does your $1,449 one-time website include?

The same custom site as our $499 option, up to 10 pages with one backend system, plus one year of hosting and no monthly fee. After that you own it outright; changes and support are billed as needed, and hosting after the first year is up to you.

Want a fixed price for your site?

Every project starts with a signed contract and a working demo: $200 for a website, or a website and apps, and a quoted demo price for everything else.
